Leaders have an assignment from Jesus, the head of the church, to equip believers for the work of the ministry, to build them up and bring them into unity of faith and increasing maturity. His aim is to produce followers who are stable and not easily deceived, sidetracked, or tossed about by the latest wind of doctrine.
