When shortage and famine strike suddenly, a sense of hopelessness begins to assail the lives of people. Even believers can lose faith and give in to the circumstances that surround them. In the prophet Elijah’s time, a gentile widow in a foreign nation heard the voice of God and heeded the request of the prophet to share her last meal with him. This act of faith resulted in a supernatural intervention that yielded amazing provision for the duration of the famine. Not only was the prophet provided for, but she and her son survived while others went hungry. Likewise God has miracle provision for His people today who will hear His voice and obey.
